Lac du Lauzanier, 2,308m

Wake up around 6am and leave around 7.20am after a cup of coffee.

6am at Lac du Lauzanier

I start climbing towards the Pas de la Cavale and pass a second lake. The path becomes increasingly rocky.

Pas de la Cavale, 2.671m

Pas de la Cavale

I sit down to look at the view, it’s a little after 8:30 and the light is beautiful. I see a beautiful ibex passing in the distance.

I start the steep descent on the other side, arriving on a sort of plateau before climbing up to the camp des fourches and then back down to Bousiéyas.

Bousiéyas, 1.883m

I pass through Bousiéyas at around 11.20am and stop off at the refuge because I’m already quite hungry. I see that they have buckwheat pancakes for lunch, but unfortunately they only serve them from midday. After a first coffee and then a 2nd, I let myself be tempted by a slice of blueberry and almond cake. I’m all set, and there’s no more room for the crêpe, so I’m on my way! I begin the climb to the pass.

Col de la Colombière, 2,307m

The descent to Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage is long and hot, with no shade on the way.

Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, 1.500m

Bivouac possible at the gîte, 10€ with shower and access to the salle hors sac.

Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage

I meet up with Gilles, and we go for a beer in the village.
